Srinagar, Nov 8: Srinagar Police has taken cognizance of an alleged threatening incident involving brandishing of an official weapon at Saderbal, Hazratbal.

The police said a complaint was filed by Hilal Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Sultan Mir, resident of Saderbal, alleging intimidation and threatening by Junaid Ahmad Band, son of Mohd Yousuf Band, a retired DySP, involving the brandishing of service weapon belonging to the Police Security Officer (PSO) deployed with his father.
In this connection, FIR No. 123/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Nigeen and investigation has been initiated.
The accused has been taken into custody, and the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the use of the official weapon and the role of the concerned PSO, are being thoroughly examined.
Police clarified that the matter is under active investigation and appropriate legal action shall be taken on the basis of facts and evidence established during investigation, strictly in accordance with law.
