Marriage is meant to be bond of peace, not a prison of silence
Choice is not a privilege in life it's a right. And where there is no choice, there is no Dignity
“Jabar se paida Hui zindagi ,
Zindagi Nahi hoti sirf guzarna hota ha “
A life born out of compulsion is not truly lived it is merely endured.
The valley of Jammu and Kashmir, WHERE nature reflects harmony and beauty, there exists painful contradiction hidden within the society, which needs to be discussed mostly that is forced matrimony.
This issue is not usually discussed yet it silently shapes the lives of countless individuals, especially woman, turning the bond of peace into a lifelong compromise.
Forcer marriage does not always appear as direct coercion. It is usually hidden behind emotional pressure, family expectations and the fear of societal judgment. Most often daughter silence is taken as agreement, her hesitation is dismissed as immaturity. And her dreams quietly negotiated away in such circumstances , Consent loses its meaning
Emotional blackmail from the family members also is the main reason behind the forced matrimony.
The lack of support especially from the family members is the biggest blender toward Their daughters
As our great poet Shayari mashrik Hazrat ALLAMA Iqbal (RA) Remind us
“ Zindagi Jabr b hai ,sabr b ha ,aur talaash b hai “
But in its true essence even in its trails life was never meant to be lived under imposed decisions. When choice is taken away, life itself begins to lose its essence.
What makes this issue even more alarming In our society is the way religion is sometimes misinterpreted to justify it play store in reality Islam stands firmly against forced marriages

Surah Ar -Rum (30:21) Describes marriage as a source of tranquility, love and mercy.
These are not only abstract ideals, they are the very foundation of meaningful marriage in Islam.

Hadith Pak (SAW)
Consent is mandatory

“ a previously married woman should not be married until she is consulted, and a virgin not be married until her permission is sought” (Sahih Al Bukhari ,sahih muslim )
2: Forced marriage can be cancelled, very pProphet Muhammad peace be upon him Prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) and said that her father had married her against her will . The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) Gave her the choice to continue or to cancel the marriage(Sunan Abu Dawood ,IBN Majah)
The the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) Made consent a condition of marriage , Give women the right to reject forced unions, and even allowed annulment where coercion was Involved leaving no room for forced matrimony in Islam.
Despite so much clarity forced matrimony continues not as a religious obligation but as a cultural distortion sustained by fear, silence end social pressure.
The harsh reality of such marriage is rarely visible but it is deeply felt. It echoes in quiet rooms, in unspoken regrets and in lives lived without fulfilment This marriage sometimes lead to suicidal attempts .

Bol zuban ab Tak h Teri “
When we see it on wider range it's not just an individual tragedy it is a generational disaster. The children raised in such environments grow up witnessing emotional distance, suppressed voices, fragile relationships etc
Overtime these patterns became normalised, quietly passing from one generation to the next
Consequences
Consequences are very far reaching mental health struggles, disrupted education, economic dependency, erosion of personal identity ,suicidal attempts.
A marriage without consent cannot nurture peace and without peace families begin to weaken from within.

Way Forward


Awareness and courage, Families must redefine honor - Not as control But as respect for individual choice. Religious scholars should make the most sermons related to this main issue. Make weekly gatherings and nurture the true spirit of Islam smj marriage in society
Community leaders educators and professionals must speak bodily against forged matrimony and stand for dignity Jammu and Kashmir stands at a critical crossroads either it can continue to pressure silence or it can choose to protect voices that have long been unheard.
“Because marriage in its truest sense is not mean to talk confine it is meant to bring peace ,dignity and companionship.”
“In the end I wanna conclude when the choice is taken away it's not just one life that suffers it is generations that quietly break “
