Authorities said a massive landslide hit the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Jammu’s Ramban district on Sunday, disrupting the flow of vehicular traffic.
A senior traffic police official said that the landslide and shooting stones occurred near the T5 tunnel in the Pantiyal zone on the highway.
The official said that an army vehicle carrying some army officers had a narrow escape when the landslide hit suddenly. All of them are safe.
Following the disruption, the traffic came to a halt in the area while the civil and other officials started clearance operation to restore the traffic.
Officials said that the traffic was restored on the highway after the clearance operation which lasted for nearly two hours. “The situation on the highway has been normalised and there have been no fresh disruptions,” officials said.
