Maths Sharpens Minds

It is pertinent to mention here that for proper teaching of Maths a student must be taught four fundamental operations viz division, multiplication, addition and subtraction on set of Natural numbers , integers with the help of number lines , decimal numbers , Rational numbers , Real numbers BODMAS and sixty to eighty basic concepts of geometry in an excellent manner so that students could be able to solve correctly any type of problem involving these fundamental operations in a minimum possible time.

After detailed discussion and by pursuing the finding/opinions of the committees of experts in Maths no one can deny the fact that mental abilities of students can be fully developed by properly teaching Maths and their mind will become sharp.
In Maths there are ten digits which must be taught properly to every child with full recognition which are now a-days known as alphabets of Maths and thereafter formation of numbers and counting up hundred be taught to the students with keen interest . when a student achieves the requisite learning level in counting and number formation fixed by the School Education Department through the various Expert committees constituted for this purpose from time to time then the student must be promoted to the next higher class .
It has been observed by the experts of the Department of school Education that when the four fundamental operations of Maths are not taught properly to a student with full command then he finds/feels learning Maths a difficult and consequently whole teaching learning processes becomes difficult rather tough task for the student and a tremendous pressure is developed which increases continuously in his mind day by day . In this way a student gradually loose interest in studies and teaching learning processes becomes a burden for the student . Either he leaves the studies midway or becomes weak in studies and thus cannot secure a good percentage of Marks at graduation or post-graduation level and lags behind to his other class fellows and consequently it becomes difficult for him to compete with his other contemporaries in this age of competitions. In this way a student cannot achieve the beautiful goal fixed by his parents for him and hence all the hopes of poor parents are dashed to the grounds.

It has been observed that when a student fails to learn four fundamental operations especially division and multiplication then he cannot use these operations with full Command in solving various problems .Hence the student starts considering Maths as a difficult subject contrary to the reality and facts because Maths is not only an easiest subject but it makes the learning of all other subjects easy for the students .
It is pertinent to mention here that the basic concepts/tools of Maths must be taught to all the students in such a manner so that all the students will gain full command over all these concepts/tools equal to the most genius student of the District. This can be done with the help of rigorous practice in a most enjoyable atmosphere for the students. When students will gain full command over all the basic concepts/tools then they will learn maths with keen interest and then a strong belief and self confidence will be developed in all the students that they can learn to excel in their bright future career.
Now each alphabet of "BODMAS" is used for a particular operation viz B is used for brackets which are of four types which includes bar bracket, shirt bracket, curly bracket and Long bracket and these brackets are solved in the order in which these have been mentioned here in above. O stands for "of", D for Division, M for multiplication, A for addition and S for subtraction. All the above operations are applied/used in the order of alphabets given in the word "BODMAS".
when Maths is taught by applying proper methods techniques latest technology and proper and appropriate pedagogy of teaching then this subject increases the inner abilities, capabilities and capacities of students automatically which in turn will increase interest of the students toward studies.
when a teacher will take keen interest in teaching Maths with sincerity ,honesty , commitment determination, dedication and devotion then a number of values are created in the student details of which is given here in below:
A student solves the problems of Maths step by step and finds the answer but does not jump to the answer at once. In this way during this process of solving various problems of Maths a student learns patience and tolerance which are the two important values which will help a student in leading happy prosperous and dignified life till his last breath by maintaining coolness of his mind. When the student does not apply the requisite method & formula the question become wrong . with this the student learns importance of proper rules and norms and thus he learns respect of Rules ,norms and law. A student learns that respecting law is the secret of success of life which further teaches to the student all the basic principles of life. when a student fails to solve a question at his own level he seeks help of his class fellows in solving it and in this way children learn helping each other , importance of helping others or seeking co-operation from other and also giving co-operation to others .when some students fail to solve a question then they seek help of their Maths teacher in solving the said question . This makes apparent clear to them the importance of teachers in teaching- learning process and in this way respect of teachers increases in the mind of all the students .
Maths is a most scoring subject . when all the questions are solved correctly then a student secures hundred percent marks but this would be possible only when whole syllabi would have been taught to the children. Concept of securing hundred percent Marks will creat a sense of learning whole Syllabi of Maths in the mind of children . Now for preparing the whole syllabi a students is required to sit for a long time as per his need and with this concept sitting habit is developed among children. Since more and more sitting habit is required for performing duties on various Administrative posts and such sitting habit is created among students while teaching- learning Maths.
Generally speaking Maths is divided into three parts which includes Commercial Maths , Algebra and Geometry. Commercial Maths is learned by using mind power and basic knowledge of Maths.Suppose an Article is purchased for Rs 80 and is sold for Rs 100 then there will be a profit of Rs 20 which can be determined by making use of mind .when an Article is purchased for less amount and sold for more then there will be profit otherwise there will be loss. when a learner of Maths applies his mind on this type of problems of commercial Maths then his thinking and reasoning power increase many fold provided that he may be stress free,tension free and will be enjoying this whole teaching learning processes.
when the learner will be weak in applying fundamental operations especially division and multiplication then Maths will become burden for him he will not become an efficient and capable personality. The second part of Maths is Algebra .It's questions are solved by making use of given values in the requisite formula. when correct values are used only then question can be solved . From this processes a learner , learns carefulness and method of using or applying correct values . Third part is Geometry which can be understood properly by understanding the different figures. In order to create interest among the learners it is necessary for the Maths teacher to link these geometric figures and other topics of Maths with day to day problems of daily life . Viz trigonometry can be used for construction of bridges, buildings , pillars and towers etc.
When latest method will be used for teaching Maths to the students then a good impact will be developed on the heart and mind of the students and certainly misunderstanding will not be created about this important subject in the mind of children that Maths is a tough or difficult Subject because when four fundamental operations and "BODMAS" are taught properly to the students and requisite interest and thirst of learning is created among students with love and affection of teachers then they (children) will learn it easily.
when Maths teacher will use proper techniques and
methods of teaching this subject then misunderstanding about this important subject will come to an end for ever from the minds of students and their parents . Now I think necessary to write proper and appropriate methods of learning this important Subject:
1 A learner of Maths must have a text book of Maths, A note book and a pen with him.
2 A learner must read the question to be solved by him carefully so as to understand it to the extent that learner may come to know what is given and what is required to be find out. Thereafter a learner must try to find out the formula which can be used to solve the question in hand.
3 Then learner must put the values in the requisite formula and must solve it to find the answer. In case he could not solve the question in two- three attempts he should leave it and must start solving next question and so on . On the next day the learner must seek help of Maths teacher in solving the question which could not be solved by him on the previous day.
4 It must be known to all the learners of Maths that in order to get full Command over this subject of important nature a learner is required to solve the problems/ questions of a number of times as . The more the number of times a question is solved a learner will gain more command over it.
Maths can not be learned by mere reading it like languages but it can be learned by doing more and more practice over its problems/ questions required according to the need and interest of learner.
It is a fact that when a student cannot understand this subject properly then studies become tough or difficult and a burden for him and he cannot acquire the requisite learning level and hence he cannot acquire studies up to desired level and leave the studies midway. On the other hand when a learner gets full command over all the fundamental operations over five kinds of numbers including BODMAS and sixty to eighty basic concepts of geometry then interests of the students increase day by day and consequently the power of their mind and their abilities and capacities will increase many fold and thus they will become an efficient, intelligent personalities with extra ordinary efficiency in English because when basic Maths is learnt properly studies become easiest for the students and they become efficient, intelligent and competent in all the subjects including Science .
The purpose of writing this article is that through the medium of it I want to convey it to all the students their parents and teachers that Maths is an Easiest Subject and it also makes easy learning of all other subjects provided that from the very beginning requisite interest must be created in the students in learning it. Teachers must teach sincerely and honestly by using appropriate and latest methods and techniques of teaching by using required teaching aids including maxims of teaching latest technology and pedagogy as per mandate of NEP 2020 so that all the students must take full interest in studies in order to develop the requisite efficiency intelligence and competency required for achieving a beautiful goal. Be it known to all the concerned that if a student is efficient in Maths then he become efficient in all other subjects also . He develops an ability of self expression and thus can easily qualify any level of the competitive examinations after which he would easily achieve a beautiful goal of his life and would get ample of opportunities of serving the Society and the Nation.
My message to all the teachers is that every teacher with any qualification can teach four fundamental operations of Maths .Once you will teach these operations with sincerity honesty determination with full dedication and devotion then students will gain full command over these fundamental operations and also requisite interest in studies will be developed in his mind and heart and then the students will start their journey toward the requisite beautiful goal.
Students having full command and proper understanding of basic concepts/tools required for proper learning of Maths can always become extra ordinary intelligent, efficient, competent and all rounder in various aspects of life.
So let us teach basic concepts/tools of Maths to all the students and thereafter by teaching Maths we can develop mental abilities of our students so that their mind will become sharp.
