Meet Srinagar's Aqib who's making a name in pickle industry

Aqib Ahmad is a young entrepreneur from Fatekadal area of district Srinagar who deals in over 20 varieties of Aanchar (Kashmiri pickle).
“I started this business as a household business but I was soon able to make it big following the huge demand of Kashmiri pickle in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir,” Aqib told Brighter Kashmir.
He said that he deals in over 20 varieties of Aanchar (Kashmiri pickle) which contains both vegetable pickles and non-vegetable pickles.
“It takes 40 days to prepare the pickle in glass jars. In Ramadhan, the demand is more as people prefer pickles over other eateries,” he said.
He said that the demand is more this year than it was during the last Ramadhan. “This year we are getting orders almost each day. The demand is more this year than it was during last year,” Aqib said.
Aqib said that this Ramadhan, the pickle, has remained among the most sought-after delicacies in and around Srinagar.
“I start selling in the afternoon soon after the prayers and the stock gets sold out before the Iftaar,” he said.
