The night temperatures in the Valley stayed below freezing while the Meteorological department has predicted rain and snow due to expected Western Disturbance (WD).
A MeT official said weak WD is likely to affect the region, potentially causing light rain and snow over higher reaches and scattered areas from late Monday evening to Tuesday morning.
He said dry weather is expected to prevail afterward until December 7.
The MeT official said on December 8 there is a possibility of another wet spell with the possibility of light rain and light snow over the higher reaches and at isolated places.
“The weather will remain dry hereafter till December 12,” he said.
Valley continued to shiver even as the temperature stayed below normal at most places.
The ski resort of Gulmarg was the coldest place with the night temperature settling at 2.9°C.
In Pahalgam, the night temperature settled at 2.3°C.
“The minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar was minus 0.8°C as against the minus 1.3°C during the previous night,” the MeT official said.
Qazigund recorded a low of minus 1.4°C as against minus 1.8°C during the previous night.
The minimum temperature at Pahalgam dipped to minus 2.3°C as against the minus 0.3°C on Sunday.
Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a low of 0.2°C as against the 0.4°C recorded during the previous night.
The night temperature in Kupwara settled at minus 0.6°C.
