
In view of increasing footprints of deadly Coronavirus or COVID19 in the country, the Union Home Ministry has asked the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to create additional quarantine facilities at 37 locations with a total of 5,440-bed capacity.
These forces, comprising the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the National Security Guard (NSG), have also been asked to create 75 isolation wards as part of preparations to combat possible large-scale outbreak of the virus.
Under the blueprint of this contingency plan, the BSF has been asked to be ready with a facility to house as many as 2000 patients for Coronavirus or COVID19 suspects.
The Border guarding forces have been asked to create 1940 bed quarantine facilities at 12 locations at Baikunthpur at Silliguri in West Bengal, Jodhpur, Indore, Chakur in Maharashtra, Kharkan in Punjab, Hazaribagh, Srinagar, Jalandhar, Takenpur in Madhya Pardesh, Kolkata, Kadamtala and Agartala apart from 10 bedded isolation center at Siliguri.
CRPF has been asked to create 1800 bed capacity facilities at 19 locations at Pinjore, Guwahati, Jammu, Narela, Neemuch, Kolkata , Imphal,Nagpur,Ranchi, Mokamaghat, Muzaffarpur, Ahmadabad,Allahabad, Coimbatore, Bangaluru,Pallipuram,Hyderabad and Gandhinagar in addition to 40 bed isolation centers at 5 locations.
The SSB is also asked to set up 100 bedded quarantine facility near Nanded in Maharashtra where as the NSG is asked to create 300 bed capacity at Hyderabad with 5 bedded isolation wards each in Manesar and Hyderabad.
Similarly, the CISF will be creating 300 bed quarantine facility at Shivganga near Madurai and the ITBP is to create an isolation ward at Greater Noida with a 20- bed facility.
