Jammu, April 13: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today chaired a high-level meeting to review Artificial Intelligence (AI) based initiatives proposed by IIT Jammu for transformative reforms in the education and health sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, M. Raju; CEO State Health Agency Anant Dwivedi; Directors of School Education Jammu and Kashmir, along with senior officers from both departments, who participated either in person or via video conferencing.
During the deliberations, the Minister stressed the need to develop a structured, age-appropriate AI curriculum for school students from primary to higher secondary levels. She directed IIT Jammu to engage closely with the School Education Department and ensure that all grassroots-level requirements are incorporated before finalization.
Sakeena Itoo also emphasized integrating AI literacy into government schools through existing platforms such as smart classrooms and Atal Tinkering Labs, ensuring that students are exposed to experiential learning and innovation-based education. She underlined that such initiatives are crucial for preparing a future-ready workforce capable of addressing local and global challenges.
Highlighting inclusivity, the Minister directed that AI learning content be made available in regional languages to ensure equitable access for students in remote and underserved areas.
Reviewing the health sector proposals, she called for the adoption of AI-driven systems to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in healthcare delivery. She specifically stressed the use of AI for fraud detection in AB-PMJAY/SEHAT schemes to ensure proper utilization of public funds and prevent misuse.
She further instructed the exploration of AI-based optimization tools for hospital operations, including bed management, workforce planning, ambulance deployment, and infrastructure utilization to improve patient care and administrative efficiency.
The Minister directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination with IIT Jammu to develop a comprehensive roadmap for phased implementation, aligned with government priorities.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to innovation-led governance, she stated that AI integration in education and healthcare would play a key role in building a modern, citizen-centric administration in Jammu and Kashmir.
