It is very unfortunate and disturbing that the morality in the present day world is dwindling day by day and it has reached to a very low and abysmal position .The decreasing moral values should be the top concern of the society but one is at a loss to understand that the modern society is paying a lip service to the ever decreasing morality .The morality of the yester years and the past is absent in today ‘s world.

There is all-round deterioration in the moral fabric of the present day society and those few who espouse morality are in fact looked down upon and this is the problem .There is overall moral and value crisis in the present day world and sincere steps should be taken to resurrect morality in the society otherwise the moral fabric will go deep down and the situation cannot be saved from fall and the society will be bound to experience and tolerate the moral dwindling and deterioration and the time will come that there will be no one to save the situation from falling very low and causing much unimaginable loss to the society .
The moral degradation has invaded all spheres of the human life and it is causing much loss to the society as the moral; values are a thing of the past and those who exhibit some sense of morality are unfortunately becoming odd man out and it seems they have no place in the today,s society .Maintaining and practicing high moral values seems to be no business of the society and it affects the overall moral fabric of the society and it is very disgusting and it should not happen for the sake of society .But the fact is that there is no morality in the society as moral degradation and deterioration has become the fait accomplice of the present day society and the sincere steps need to be taken to save the society from the moral fall and degradation .The dwindling of the moral values is seen from top to bottom of the society and also in the governmental hierarchy and the adverse results are before our eyes .To resurrect the society and the governmental ladder from the moral decay there is need to give top most importance to the moral values .
The dwindling of the moral values in the society is primarily due to the reason and fact that our family and educational institutions fail to provide moral education to children and this contributed greatly towards the moral decay in the present day society .The degradation of the moral values stares us in the face and this phenomena leads to many undesirable things in our society .If we want a morally and ethically robust and strong system and society we should give top priority to the moral and ethical values . Thus imparting of the moral and ethical values is most important for the present day society where there is overall moral degradation and it affects all the segments of the society .Thus moral and value education should be given to the budding generation in schools and colleges so that we are able to build a morally and ethically strong society .It is because of this fact that the new education policy of 2020 has given top most place to the moral education because without moral education ,we cannot build an ethically strong society .Therefore there is great and urgent need to impart moral education to the children along with the bread and butter education .But as our educational institutions do not give due and proper attention to the moral education of the children ,and so we only engineer people who are far away from morality and ethics and the adverse effects of the ignoring the moral education is before us in the shape of the leaders who have no moral sensibility and who work for their ulterior motives disregarding the interests of the society .It is pertinent to mention here that family is the first school of citizenship and mother is the first taught and teacher and the moral foundations of the children and the society are built in the home fist of all .
The first lessons imparted to children in his family go a long way to built the morally and ethically strong society because it is in the family that the first lessons in morality are imparted to children which later on play a great role in building a morally and ethically strong society .Since we are lagging behind in giving moral and ethic al education in informal way in the family and thus we suffer from the disease of dwindling of the moral values which affects different spheres of life .There is mad race for money ,name ,fame ,power and pelf in the present day society and so we are only producing men and women who are far from moral values and material welfare is all that matters in the modern world .The dishonesty absence of discipline ,corruption ,scams and n moral turpitude is all that is seen in the society .The love for material things is all that has got importance in the present day world and therefore we suffer from the moral deterioration which is eating the very foundations of the society .The erosion of moral values has become a very disturbing phenomenon .
We need to understand that the moral values are those set of standards by which we differentiate between the right and wrong .The moral values can come from self ,family ,community ,religion .government and most importantly from the educational institutions .These days we are witnessing that the youth have lost their morality completely and they are addicted towards mobile phones ,internet ,social platforms and drug addiction and these adverse things contribute in a measure way towards the declining of the moral; values in the society .However the formal and informal agencies of education such as family ,school ,community and society play an important role in developing the ethical and moral values among youth of today and thus builds the moral and ethical foundations which later on lead to the development of the nation .But unfortunately due to some social and economic factors many families are disoriented ,disorganized ,confused and eventually fail to play their role in building the moral and ethical foundations of human society .Our institutes of learning and education are preparing efficient manpower to man the different positions in public and private sector but it fails to produce the good citizens needed for working of the democracy.
The fact that our country has given first preference to adult franchise and secondary to education and this has led to lopsided development .Our society is marked by violence in various forms ,greed ,theft ,drug addiction ,human trafficking and crimes against women like heinous crime of rape .There is lack of discipline among the youth and this causes big losses to the human society in so far as the moral and ethical values are concerned .The elders being the senior citizens are not obeyed by the youth and often disobey them little realizing an d knowing the harsh reality that old is the gold and the suggestions of the senior citizens have much value for the development of the society and the country .In modern era ethical and moral values are degenerating very fast as people are becoming more and more self centered and selfish .So there is great need to impart moral and ethical education to the children so that the future generation will become morally and ethically strong and desirable to the society .Thus there is pressing need to impart moral values to children so that we are able to produce better and responsible citizens who will lead the country in the 21st century .There is urgent need to give due recognition to human ,moral and professional values if we want to march to progress and prosperity in the 21st century and then and only then this century will be Indian .Moreover to make the society crime free, there is great need to impart value and moral education to the children so that we are able to produce morally and ethically strong nation .To cut a long story short there is great need to impart moral and value education to the children first in the home and then in the school so that there is no value crises and moral turpitude in the country .So let us build a morally and ethically strong youth force in the country so that the morality will reign supreme.
