MoU signed for dev of Mata Bhadrakali temple heritage complex

Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K Dr. Arvind Karwani, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Vijay Kumar Sharma, CAO (Relief) Shiwani Bhan and senior officers from the Regional Offices of NHPC Jammu and NBCC, visited the Mata Bhadrakali Temple complex located on the banks of the Nikki Tawi river in Thalwal, Jammu to assess on-site requirements for its development as a heritage complex.
The Office of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NHPC for the development of the Bhadrakali Temple as a Cultural Heritage Centre under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The MoU was signed at Raj Bhawan in an event presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Mata Bhadrakali Temple is a revered shrine, particularly significant to the Kashmiri Pandit community. It stands as a powerful symbol of their enduring faith and cultural preservation. The temple mirrors the historical Bhadrakali Temple of Wadipora, Handwara, Kashmir.
The proposed Cultural Heritage Centre aims to represent the traditions, values and creativity of the community, fostering a sense of pride, belonging and unity. It is also envisioned as an educational resource, allowing students, scholars and visitors to learn about the region’s history, art, architecture and diversity.
