
Rajouri, May 04: Following fresh snowfall in the upper reaches, authorities have temporarily closed the Mughal Road as a precautionary measure via Peer Ki Gali, ensuring the safety of commuters.
The strategic Mughal Road, which connects Shopian with the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, witnessed sudden snowfall leading to slippery conditions and reduced visibility. As a result, vehicular movement has been halted to prevent any untoward incidents.
Reports indicate that about 50 vehicles were stranded in both sides due to the inclement weather conditions as told by SO Traffic Mohd Yaqoob. Acting swiftly, the concerned administration, along with police and rescue teams, launched a coordinated rescue operation to evacuate the stranded passengers and ensure their safety.
Authorities have advised commuters to avoid traveling on the Mughal Road until weather conditions improve and the road is declared safe for movement.
