Nagaland Governor reviews border development in Lungwa

Lungwa, Mon, Aug 19: Nagaland Governor Shri Nand Kishore Yadav visited Lungwa in Mon district on August 18, where he interacted with local community representatives and reviewed development and security concerns in the remote border region.

The Governor was received by the Assam Rifles during his visit and held discussions with the Chief Angh, community leaders and representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs). The interaction provided an opportunity to understand the aspirations and challenges faced by residents of the strategically important area.
Community representatives highlighted key issues concerning connectivity, education, healthcare, livelihoods and infrastructure, which remain critical to improving the quality of life in remote border communities.
The discussions also focused on the region's distinctive cultural heritage and the importance of preserving its traditional identity while ensuring inclusive development and better access to essential services.
During his visit to the Company Operating Base (COB) at Lungwa, the Governor was briefed on the prevailing security situation and the operational responsibilities of the Assam Rifles in the border area.
He was also apprised of various initiatives undertaken by the force for the welfare, empowerment and development of local communities, including efforts aimed at strengthening engagement with residents and supporting community needs.
The Governor appreciated the Assam Rifles for maintaining security in the challenging border environment while simultaneously undertaking initiatives focused on community welfare and engagement.
He also acknowledged the role of the force in strengthening civil-military relations, particularly in remote areas where regular interaction between security personnel and local communities is essential for building trust and cooperation.
The visit highlighted the importance of a coordinated approach to development and security in border regions, where improved infrastructure, livelihood opportunities and access to education and healthcare can complement security efforts.
The interaction with community leaders also provided an important platform for taking local concerns to the appropriate authorities and reinforcing the commitment towards balanced development of the region.
The Governor's visit reaffirmed the significance of community participation, effective connectivity and inclusive development in strengthening the social and economic resilience of remote border areas of Nagaland
