National Commission for Minorities celebrates Khalsa Srijan Diwas

April 12, 2025 | BK News Service

The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) commemorated Khalsa Srijan Diwas with solemn reverence and a spirit of unity at the residence of the Hon’ble Chairman. The occasion marked the historic foundation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, a transformative moment in India’s spiritual and social history.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Chairman elaborated on the profound significance of Khalsa Foundation Day and the unparalleled contributions of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in promoting peace, communal harmony, and cultural enrichment across the nation. He described the festival as a powerful reminder of unity, courage, and service, the values that transcend religious boundaries and bind the nation together.
Delivering justice to 1984 riots victims
The Chairman also drew attention to the painful legacy of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He stressed that for decades, the victims remained unheard and unseen by successive governments, and were met with silence instead of empathy. “No one ever visited them. No one tried to understand their pain,” he remarked.
For the first time, under the proactive approach of the National Commission for Minorities, steps were taken to reach out directly to the victims and their families. The Commission undertook the responsibility to listen to their grievances, document their sufferings, and seek tangible solutions. The Chairman emphasized that the NCM worked to ensure that the kin of riot victims were provided with employment opportunities and that their long-lost dignity was meaningfully restored.
In addition, he spoke about the Commission’s efforts in resolving the Mangu Math issue, reaffirming NCM’s role as a guardian of minority rights and a custodian of communal harmony.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman highlighted NCM’s inclusive approach, stating, “The National Commission for Minorities celebrates the festivals of all faiths with equal fervor. From Christmas and Iftar to Mahavir Jayanti and Krishna Janmashtami, every celebration is a step toward a more inclusive, empathetic India.”
The observance of Khalsa Srijan Diwas is a testament to NCM’s dedication to preserving India’s pluralistic legacy and championing justice, respect, and unity among all communities.
