Srinagar, Sep 27: The 20th Senior Men & 16th Senior Women National Cycle Polo Federation Cup 2026 commenced today at the historic Polo Ground, Srinagar, with teams from across the country taking part in the three-day national championship.

The championship is being organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Cycle Polo Association under the aegis of the Cycle Polo Federation of India (CPFI) and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council. The championship will be held from September 26 to 29, 2026.
Teams representing Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Territorial Army, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the championship.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Managing Director, KPDCL, as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled the historic association of Polo Ground with traditional horse polo and highlighted the growing importance and popularity of Cycle Polo as an exciting sporting discipline.
He interacted with the participating team captains and extended his best wishes to all the players, urging them to demonstrate discipline, sportsmanship and competitive spirit throughout the championship.
The ceremony was also attended by prominent sports personalities and dignitaries, including Chandan Kumar Pandey, Secretary CPFI; Suvinder Mullick, President CPFI; Sheikh Zulfikar, Secretary, State Polo Association; Imran Shah, Chairman, Legends School of Education; Ahsan Ali, Member CPFI; and Umar Farooq, Managing Director, Red Stone.
The championship aims to provide a national platform for Cycle Polo players and contribute to the further promotion and development of the sport in Jammu & Kashmir and across India.
