NCM takes cognizance of X post, seeks action

The National Commission for Minorities took suo-moto cognizance of X(formerly Twitter) post dated 20.09.2024 regarding dismissal of Karan Singh from Nepal Army for non-shaving of his beard and hair, against his religious identity. The matter was taken up with the Ministry of External Affairs vide letter dated 25.09.2024 for looking into the matter. Ministry of External Affairs have informed vide letter dated 01.11.2024 that they took up the matter and the issue has since been resolved and Shri Karan Singh has joined the Nepali Army.
