The meeting chaired by Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities, Ms. Rinchen Lhamo, Members and Officials of NCM were also present, featured a large number of representatives of more than 50 NGOs from diverse areas of work from animal care, care for the disabled, orphans, artisans and crafts people, women in distress, prisoners, skill development, education, health, counseling, riot victims and minorities. Most of the views expressed were regarding lack of space, inadequate funding, lack of awareness of Government schemes and facilities, need for community support and greater compliance with existing laws by citizens and responsiveness by authorities.
The representative of MoMA shared about the PMJVK Schemes and assured participation by Government for scheme related camps for targeted groups. Member, Ms. Rinchen Lhamo urged the NGOs to make greater use of the online facilities for information regarding schemes of the Government and for approaching the District Minorities Welfare Officers in States also.
Iqbal Singh Lalpura emphasized the work of the Commission for addressing insecurity, inequality and discrimination amongst minorities under the banner of the Prime Minister's call for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishvas and Sabka Prayas. He appreciated the commendable work being done by the NGOs and assured them of taking up their issues with the concerned agencies for resolution.
