Chari Sharief, Jan 11: Senior Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) leader and Advocate Javed Hubi has made a fervent appeal to Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Waqf Board, to establish a Waqf Board–run medical college in the name of Alamdar-e-Kashmir, Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA), at Charar-i-Sharief.
Hubi emphasized that Dr Andrabi, as an academician and social thinker leading a premier Waqf institution, possesses both the moral authority and institutional mandate to use Waqf assets for public welfare—saving lives and training healthcare professionals. He noted that Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) transcends community boundaries, representing the conscience of Kashmir, and that a medical college in his name would reflect his teachings of compassion, service, and human dignity.
Highlighting the healthcare gap in Central Kashmir, Hubi pointed out that the absence of tertiary medical facilities forces patients to travel to Srinagar for even basic treatment. He described the existing Alamdar College for Nursing & Medical Technology as a ready foundation for upgrading into a full-fledged medical college, stressing that what is required now is political and administrative will, not paperwork.
Hubi urged Dr Andrabi to initiate a time-bound feasibility study and engage with medical regulators and the UT administration. “This decision will define the future of Waqf in Jammu & Kashmir for generations,” he said, adding that establishing the college would serve the poor, create opportunities for youth, and leave a lasting legacy of service.
Hubi said, “This is not merely an appeal—it is a call of conscience. Let Alamdar-e-Kashmir heal the people today through an institution of medicine, knowledge, and humanity.”
