
Ganderbal, Dec 9: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) successfully implemented the first phase of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) and formally distributed offer letters to the selected interns during a function at Tulmulla here on Monday.
The initiative has been undertaken in alignment with the vision and academic direction provided by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, who has consistently emphasized the importance of practical exposure and skill development for students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean Academic Affairs and Chairman, NATS at CUKashmir, Prof. Shahid Rasool, spoke about the global relevance of internship programmes and cited international examples where students actively contribute to office operations as part of their training. He encouraged the interns to grab the opportunity with dedication and a commitment to developing essential skills.
In his address, Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, highlighted the pivotal role of internships in strengthening students’ academic and professional growth. He underscored the importance of sincerity, discipline, and consistent effort during the training period.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Yash Paul, Nodal Officer NATS, gave an overview of the scheme and briefed the attendees about the selection process, noting that from a substantial number of applicants, 20 students were selected for the first phase following a careful and competitive evaluation.
The ceremony concluded with the formal distribution of offer letters to the selected interns by the Registrar and the DAA, marking the commencement of their apprenticeship tenure.
Faculty members of the Department of Information Technology and the selected interns were present during the programme.
