: District Kulgam today achieved a significant milestone under Census 2027 Self-Enumeration initiative, with more than 10,000 households participated in the Self-Enumeration on the very first day of the campaign.
The Self-Enumeration drive in the district was formally kickstarted at Mini Secretariat Kulgam with the flagging off of a dedicated awareness van aimed at disseminating information regarding the Self-Enumeration process across urban and rural areas of the district. The awareness campaign focused on encouraging maximum public participation in the national exercise through digital and assisted modes.
During the launch programme, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam sensitized supervisors, enumerators, officers, and government employees regarding the importance of Self-Enumeration and emphasized the need for citizen participation to ensure accurate and reliable census data. Government employees present during the event were specifically encouraged to complete Self-Enumeration of their own households and motivate others in their localities to participate in the exercise.
A detailed demonstration session was also conducted during the programme wherein a step-by-step demo video explaining the Self-Enumeration process was showcased before the participants and public. The demonstration covered the complete process beginning from logging into
se.census.gov.in, registration, household mapping, filling of questionnaire, and final submission process. Special emphasis was laid on simplifying the process for common citizens and highlighting the availability of assistance at Panchayat Bhawans, Patwar Halqas, Block Offices, and Tehsil Offices.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, while addressing the gathering, appealed to the people of the district to actively participate in this important national exercise. He stated that Self-Enumeration not only empowers citizens to submit accurate household information themselves but also strengthens participatory governance and improves future planning and welfare delivery.
To achieve the milestone of over 10,000 Self-Enumerations on Day 1, District Administration Kulgam adopted a multi-pronged outreach and mobilization strategy. The district administration established support and facilitation mechanisms at Panchayat, Block, and Tehsil levels to assist citizens in completing Self-Enumeration. Awareness generation was carried out through social media campaigns, public announcements, sensitization meetings, field-level mobilization by supervisors and enumerators, and direct outreach through government employees and local functionaries.
Special focus was laid on involving government employees, educational institutions, frontline workers, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and local volunteers to create awareness regarding the importance and ease of Self-Enumeration. Continuous monitoring and coordination mechanisms were also established to ensure smooth implementation of the drive across all areas of the district.
The district administration reiterated its appeal to all residents of Kulgam to complete their Self-Enumeration at the earliest by visiting
se.census.gov.in and become active partners in nation-building through Jan Bhagidari.
