Saving the living planet is the biggest challenge to humankind. Increasing population and side effects of modernization have resulted adversely on the health of Planet Earth. To keep people aware about the importance of clean air, water and soil, 5 th June is celebrated worldwide as world environment day every year. To mark the occasion, this year, Mission LIFE (Life for environment) was launched to promote awareness among different walks of life. A number of programme were conducted in 144 Bn, CRPF, in this regard these include Tree plantation, Marathon Running, Repair of leaking taps & pipes and cycle rally. During the series of programmes cleanliness drive was also undertaken inside Dal Lake near floating market where large quality of plastic and non-biodegradable waste was collected with collaboration of local public. To mark the culmination of the mission LIFE activities, a painting competition for school children was conducted at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Zadibal. Participating children expressed their emotions towards mother Earth in an impressive way. For their praiseworthy efforts, they were awarded gifts. Sh. Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Comdt.-144 Bn and Dr. Aman Ashraf Principal, Higher Secondary school were the guest of honor on the occasion. In his address, Sh. Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Comdt. stressed upon saving the earth by keeping environment clean and healthy. He also expressed his gratitude towards the participants and Principal Higher Secondary school for making the programme a success. A pledge to save the environment was also taken by all officers and men, on world Environment day.
