
The 3 days Kashmir Division Chess championship 2023 organized by All J&K Chess Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under AICF’s Chess Development Programme concluded at Srinagar Sports Club Wazirbagh Srinagar . About 110 players from senior, junior, Sub, Junior in both boys & girls category from all Districts of Kashmir division participated in it. Despite severe cold players of all age group showed great enthusiasm. Waseem Raja (JKAS) ,Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority attended the closing ceremony as Chief Guest and distributed prizes and cash money among the winners and runner up players. He lauded the efforts of All J&K Chess Association for engaging youth in the sports. The final results were as under:- In senior category Adil Ashraf Secured 1st position, 2nd position secured by Faisal Farooq and 3rd position secured by Sahil Rashid . In Sub-junior boys U-07 category 1st position secured by Mohammad Ibaad Gundroo 2nd position by Ahmad Muzaffar Lone & 3rd position by Mohammad Salman Kolu . In Sub-junior Girls U-07 category 1st position secured by Ayzal Noor 2nd position by Filza Faheem Masoodi. In Sub-junior boys U-09 category 1st position secured by Malik Mohammad Issa 2nd position by Sameem Iqbal Samoon & 3rd position by Mohammad Amaad Khan. In Sub-junior Girls U-09 category 1st position secured by Huda Jan 2nd position by Zoya Shah. In Sub-junior boys U-11 category 1st position secured by Ehaan Sajad 2nd position by Mufasir Hussain & 3rd position by Mohammad Qasim Bhat. In Sub-junior Girls U-11 category 1st position secured by Fatimut-ul Zohra .In Sub-junior boys U-13 category 1st position secured by Ahmad Ali Gowhar 2nd position by Mohammad Faiq Sofi & 3rd position by Buruj Khataab. In Sub-junior Girls U-13 category 1st position secured by Fatima 2nd position by Masooma Zainab & 3rd position by Zainab Ameer Bakhshi . In junior boys U-15 category 1st position secured by Muhammad Moatasim Wani 2nd position by Raja Zahir Khan & 3rd position by Shiekh Mohammad Hammad . In junior Girls U-15 category 1st position secured by Uzma Iqbal 2nd position by Areeba Shabir . In junior boys U-17 category 1st position secured by Qazi Saaid Waqas, 2nd position by Mauzam Mehraj & 3rd position by Sahil Manzoor Rather. In junior girls U-17 category 1st position secured by Mahnoor Adfar . In junior boys U-19 category 1st position secured by Faizan Shabir, 2nd position by Mohammad Tehseen . Malik Humza Bin Zaid was awarded the youngest participant in senior open category . Syed Soliya Nazir was awarded best women of the tournament, while as Hamza Malik was awarded special player of the tournament. Over the course of the championship, the players exhibited exceptional skills, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship in a friendly yet fiercely competitive environment. The tournament saw intense matches and nail-biting moments that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. All Members of the All J&K Chess Association, said, "We are overwhelmed by the tremendous response and participation in Kashmir Division Championship. It is heartening to witness the enthusiasm and talent of young chess players from all districts of valley .
