
Under the insightful directions and Patronage of The Chief Justice , Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tashi Rabstan, who is also the Executive Chairman JK LSA and Administrative Judge for District Srinagar, 4th General Lok Adalat was organized today on 17th of December, 2022 at District Court Complex Srinagar. The General Lok Adalat was inaugurated at 11.00 AM by Mr. Jawad Ahmad, Principal District & Sessions Judge ,Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Srinagar at ADR Centre, DLSA Srinagar, in presence of other judicial officers and general public.
The special focus of this General Lok Adalat was on litigations regarding bank and matrimonial disputes. All the courts had identified the cases beforehand for the Lok Adalat and same were placed before nine (09) different benches constituted by District Legal Services Authority Srinagar for settlement.
Moreover, the matters placed before the Benches included civil, criminal compoundable, cheque bounce, Bank matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Tenancy, Electricity and Pre-litigation matters. Bench No. 05 took matters related to pre litigation disputes of banks and matrimonial disputes. Further, the matters pertaining to dispute with regard to drainage in the locality of Mujgund area of Srinagar was brought before the bench which was amicable resolved and almost two thousand beneficiaries were benefitted from that settlement. Moreover an amount of Rs. 02 Crore and 60 lacs was settled in pre litigation matters by Bench No. 5 presided by Fozia Paul (Secretary DLSA Srinagar) and Shafiq Mushtaq Lone (3RD Additional Munsiff Srinagar).
Moreover 16 number of MACT claims were amicably settled with the insurance companies wherein a total amount of Rs. 72 lacs was settled and accordingly cheques were distributed to the concerned families by Jawad Ahmad PDJ Srinagar and Sandeep Gandotra (Presiding Officer MACT Tribunal)
Nonetheless, a total number of ¬¬¬¬¬¬22,000/- (Twenty two thousand) matters were taken up for their amicable settlement, out of which ¬21069 (Twenty one thousand sixty nine) matters were settled. Besides and an amount of Rs. 04 crores (Four Crores) was realized in total in the settlement. The General Lok Adalat was convened by Secretary DLSA Srinagar.
