Assam Rifles, ICG deepen ties

Dimapur, July 25: The Assam Rifles hosted the 7th Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles in Laitkor, Shillong, on July 24, 2026, reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between the two forces in advancing national security objectives.

The Indian Coast Guard delegation, led by V. Krishna Kumar, Deputy Inspector General, PD (P&B), was received by Jai Singh Bainsla, SM, Additional Director General of the Assam Rifles. The meeting reflected the shared commitment of both organisations to strengthening cooperation through regular dialogue and coordinated initiatives.
During the discussions, senior officers reviewed the progress of ongoing collaborative programmes and assessed measures aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness. The deliberations focused on expanding inter-service cooperation, improving operational synergy, promoting joint training initiatives and encouraging greater professional exchanges between personnel of the two forces.
The participants also exchanged views on emerging security challenges and explored ways to further strengthen interoperability through coordinated planning, knowledge sharing and institutional cooperation. Such engagements are aimed at enhancing preparedness and ensuring seamless coordination whenever the two organisations operate in support of national security.
The Joint Working Group meeting concluded on a positive note, with both the Assam Rifles and the Indian Coast Guard reaffirming their shared resolve to deepen mutual cooperation and build on their longstanding partnership.
