Assam Rifles inaugurates driving school in Tripura

To empower families and promote self-reliance

September 03, 2025 | BK News Service

In a progressive step towards community empowerment and skill development, Assam Rifles inaugurated a Driving School at Radhanagar, Tripura, on 1st September 2025. This initiative is part of the force’s ongoing commitment to uplift and empower the families of its personnel, especially in remote regions.
The school aims to provide basic driving education and hands-on training to the families of Battalion personnel, thereby fostering self-reliance, mobility, and confidence, particularly among women and young adults. The project is a key component of Assam Rifles’ mission to promote holistic development and self-sufficiency within the communities it serves.
What makes this initiative even more impactful is the collaboration with the District Transport Office (DTO), Unakoti, under which candidates who successfully complete the course and pass the test will be facilitated with official Driving Licenses. This not only builds competence but also opens up employment opportunities for participants, both within and outside their communities.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from families and local residents, who welcomed the initiative as a transformative opportunity for the region. For many in the remote village of Radhanagar, this marks the first formal avenue to learn driving — a skill that often remains out of reach due to lack of access or affordability.
Senior officials from Assam Rifles expressed that the Driving School is not just about teaching a skill — it is about enabling independence, reducing dependency, and opening new horizons for personal and economic growth.
This initiative adds to Assam Rifles' track record of impactful civic action programs in the Northeast, further strengthening the bond between the Force and the local populace.
