Ganderbal, Sep 7: The bodies of two persons were recovered from a power canal in the Thune Kangan area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Monday following a day-long search operation.

Officials said that teams of the State Disaster Response Force from Ganderbal and Gund carried out extensive search efforts before locating and retrieving both bodies from the canal.

The two persons had reportedly entered the hydropower canal at Thune earlier in the day, following which Police and SDRF teams launched a search operation.

The bodies have been taken into custody for medico-legal formalities.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident
