Corporator Habba Kadal Nakul Matuu has expressed surprise over the way construction work was allowed on a migrant property against the court directions.
The question was raised by Corporator Habba Kadal Nakul Mattu in the meeting of Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s General Council Meeting, however, Secretary SMC quoted Mayor as having said that it is not the matter of public importance and will be taken up with concerned officials.
Nakul Mattu said that a Pandit Kouldeep Koul who is the resident of Srinagar and currently living in Jammu owns a property at Jawahar Nagar area of Srinagar. In his absence some vested interest elements tried to occupy it and raised some structure there. The matter went into the court and subsequently the court put the construction work on hold and asked the District Magistrate Srinagar to take the custody of the land.
“Surprisingly, some vested interest elements started construction work there against the court directions while the concerned SMC ward officer showed least interest in stopping the illegal construction work,” the Corporator said.
He said he had raised the issue at General Council Meeting of SMC but was disappointed with the reply he got. “The Mayor in his reply has stated that the matter is not of public importance and will be taken up with the concerned officials,” he said.“How court order was violated and construction allowed on the site when the property is in the custody of DC Srinagar. Why concerned Ward Officer didn’t act when the matter is subjudice,” he questioned.
