DLSA, SWD, DHSK organize recreational, awareness prog for senior citizens of Chanapora

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar Saturday organized a recreational cum awareness programme for senior citizens in collaboration with Social Welfare Department (SWD) and Department of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) at Ahata-e-Waqar Chanapora Srinagar.

The programme, held under the guidance of Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA Srinagar (PDJ, Srinagar) commenced with a touching Tilawat of the Quran by Khazer Mohammad Trag followed by a soulful Naat recital by Noor Mohammad.

The objective of the programme was to foster recreational activities and awareness among senior citizens.

The programme was attended by Nazir Ahmed Qureshi, founder of the Chinar Foundation, renowned for its commitment to educating and providing shelter for orphans, poor children, and youngsters, ensuring a brighter future for them. Farooq Ahmed Bhat, founder of Help Poor Voluntary Trust, also graced the occasion, known for his philanthropic efforts in offering free medical aid services to thousands of underprivileged individuals.

During the event, Nazir Ahmed and Farooq Ahmed delivered inspiring speeches, sharing insights into their organizations' missions, remarkable achievements, and impactful contributions to society.

Their dedication was applauded as a blessing to the community, underscoring the profound impact of their initiatives on vulnerable groups.

Other Speakers included Abdul Ganie Parray, Shabir Mujahid, Hakim M Yaseen and Qazi Rasheed, who expressed their views, emphasizing the importance of community support and collaboration in advancing societal welfare.

Additionally, a team from the Mental Health Program, led by Dr. Syed Riyaz presented insightful discussions on their program's objectives and initiatives.

Adil Rasheed, a distinguished psychologist, provided valuable insights into mental health issues, highlighting the significance of awareness and support in addressing these critical concerns.

The event not only aimed to enhance community cohesion but also to raise awareness on pertinent issues and promote holistic well-being among senior citizens and vulnerable populations.
