Thousands of devotees today gathered at the Hazratbal shrine on the banks of the picturesque Dal Lake.
The devotees had a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) after every prayer.
Emotional scenes were witnessed when the holy relic of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was displayed after prayers.
Many devotees spent the intervening night in Masjids and shrines to observe the Shab (night) of Milad.
Eid-e-Milad un Nabi (SAW) is celebrated on 12th of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awal, which marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
People also took out Milad processions in Srinagar and other districts of south and north Kashmir.
People were seen holding religious flags and raising slogans of praise for Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The markets across Hazratbal and other religious places were decorated with lights and devotees were seen purchasing goods.
Many vendors had set up their stalls across Hazratbal market which witnessed a huge buzz on the day.
Thousands of devotees including men, women, and children participated in night-long prayers “Shab Khawani” at Hazratbal shrine during which special prayers were offered.
Situated on the banks of Dal Lake, the shrine was illuminated as thousands offered special prayers that continued through the night.
Worshippers began arriving in the evening, and by nightfall, the lawns and courtyards were filled with people reciting the Quran, listening to naats, and joining in collective supplications.
Many had travelled from far-off districts to be part of the congregation.
A devotee Abdul Aziz said visiting Hazratbal on this occasion is a yearly tradition.
“It is a way to connect with the Prophet’s (SAW) message of compassion and peace,” he said.
For others, the gathering carried deeply personal meaning.
Officials had deployed health teams and support staff to manage the large crowds. Additional personnel were also stationed to regulate the movement of devotees and ensure safety around the shrine, which houses the revered relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Mosques, khanqahs, and shrines across the Valley also echoed with prayers, sermons, and processions. Religious scholars urged people to uphold the Prophet’s (SAW) teachings of unity, harmony, and service to humanity.
