People of different castes and religions live in our country. Every year we celebrate different festivals with great joy. Eid-ul-Adha is one of these festivals as we also know by different names Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-ul-Baqara. This is a special festival of Islam which is celebrated by Muslims all over the world. It is also called the festival of sacrifice.
The Meaning of Eid-ul-Adha
It is an Arabic word and means "sacrifice". It means "Eid of the Sacrifice". This festival is celebrated about 70 days after the end of the holy month of Ramadan. In Arab countries it is known as Eid-ul-Adha and in India it is known as Baqarah Eid. This is a great Muslim festival which is basically the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (as) which describes the faith of Hazrat Ibrahim (as) and his devotion to Allah Almighty. According to Muslim belief, Abraham had a dream of slaughtering his son, but he did not pay attention to it. When the same dream came for three days in a row, you realized that surely this dream is from Allah Almighty and because the dreams of the prophets are true. Therefore, they agreed to this without thinking and accepted the command of Allah Almighty. Although he was a good man and loved his son very much, his devotion and faith in God was so strong that, He did not hesitate to take the life of his beloved son Ishmael (as)
And they agreed to take a bold step and sacrifice their son. Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah stirred up the mercy of Allah Almighty and Allah Almighty created the reason for saving his son's life. And at the same time, instead of Ishmael, a sheep was sent through Gabriel to be sacrificed. It was a reward from Allah for Ibrahim (as). Due to this sacred event in the history of Islam, all Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha every year according to the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (as) for Allah's mercy and forgiveness.
