In a major step to support horticulture growers, the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing today provided corrugated boxes to the farmers of Batote under the “Support for Grading and Packaging” scheme on a 50% subsidy basis.

As many as 6,300 corrugated cardboard boxes of different sizes were distributed among fruit growers of the area. The measure aims to improve post-harvest management and enhance market competitiveness of local produce.
The growers of the area appreciated the department’s support, expressing gratitude for the initiative. They stated that the provision of corrugated boxes will significantly raise packaging standards, reduce post-harvest losses and enable them to secure better prices for their fruits in the market.
Reiterating its commitment, the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing assured that it will continue to introduce farmer-friendly schemes to promote modern practices in grading, packaging and marketing of horticultural produce across the district.
