
Leaving no stone unturned to make G20 meeting a success: J&K officials
Jammu and Kashmir administration officials associated with the arrangements for G20 meeting on Wednesday said that administration is fully prepared to make the event a success and all the preparations have been completed.
“We are almost done with the preparations. We will leave no stone unturned to make the G20 meeting a success. Various departments are working in perfect synchronization to get the job done,” a high ranking official of Jammu and Kashmir administration told Brighter Kashmir.
He said that security arrangements have also been made well in advance and a multi-security set up has been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the G20 Summit.
“Various security arrangements have been looked upon. We all are prepared. Security has been beefed up in an unprecedented manner. Technology has been put to best use as far as security arrangements are concerned,” the official said.
When asked about security arrangements in Gulmarg which falls in north Kashmir range, the official said that adequate security arrangements have been made in Gulmarg too.
“Security arrangements are being reviewed on a daily basis as far as Gulmarg is concerned. A full proof security arrangement has been put in place in Gulmarg too. We assure all the citizens about the foolproof security arrangements that have been put in place for the success of the G20 meeting,” the official said.
Around foreign dignitaries from 20 different countries will attend the meeting and discuss tourism, unemployment, and socioeconomic development in different regions.
The three-day second Tourism Working Group Global (TWG) meeting, under India’s G20 presidency, is scheduled to begin in Srinagar from May 22 to 24.
Meanwhile, the areas in and around the Srinagar district have also been sanitized and the security has been beefed up as well. “We have completely secured Srinagar where the main function will be held. We have ensured a tight and full-proof security for the Summit,” the official said.
He said that traffic plans for Srinagar city from May 22 to 24 will also be shared in advance with the citizens so that they commute in a hassle free manner.
“Our administration is a friendly administration and we do not want our citizens to suffer in any manner. We will ensure smooth conduct of the traffic for these three days. We want our citizens to be at ease,” the official said.
Meanwhile, the government of India has made elaborated arrangements beforehand to make this event special and memorable.
The official said that an international setup has been put in place to welcome the delegation as far as Gulmarg is concerned.
Pertinently, the administration has given an aesthetic look to the existing structures, footpaths and medians have been developed, roads are being furnished, and hoardings have been installed in and around Gulmarg.
“Welcome boards and signages have also been erected in Gulmarg. The road to Gulmarg from Srinagar, the Narbal-Gulmarg stretch, is being given a new look,” an official associated with the arrangements said.
The high-profile international event of G20 tourism working group meeting will be the first meet in Srinagar which will be held on May 23 and 24, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Also, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has put in every effort and the preparations are in full swing to make the program a success.
