Gender discrimination can be defined as when there are unfair rights between a male and a female. In gender discrimination, both males and females differ because of their gender roles which ultimately lead to unequal treatment Gender discrimination has been around for many centuries. Every time, women is discriminated on futile basis. It is the malaise of many years and there are many causes that play their role in it.
The first cause is illiteracy. When people especially men , do not educate themselves, they continue to live in the old times. As a result, they follow the old-age sexist tradition and norms. The second is economic dependence of women on males. The economic dependence of females on the male counterparts result in the suffering of women. They never get out of this and stay financially dependent on men. Furthermore, the patriarchal setup in our society plays a big role in this setup. The male dominates almost very aspect of life. They consider themselves to be superior to women. In this way, violence and injustice is meted out against females. Thus, when there is a gender considering themselves to be superior, it becomes difficult for everyone , particularly the women to avail equal opportunities.
Gender discrimination has a deep impact on society as a whole. It does not just impact a specific section of the society but every part of it. First of all it impacts the women. Her children suffer too. They fall prey to gender stereotypes from a young age. Further it has a bad effect on the young people. It impacts their behaviour, study choices, ambitions, attitude and many more . It destroys the society in the long run. This country never grows in the real sense. There is always a gulf between the man and the woman that is difficult to fill.
If we want to develop fully, we must refrain from gender discrimination as much as we can. Women are also human beings. An atmosphere of understanding between the man and the woman can do miracles. All have to come forward in this regard. Let us resolve to utilize the full potential of women to make our society sustainable in the long run.
