Guldasta-E-Jammu Wa Kashmir concludes

A two-day Jammu and Kashmir cultural Festival "Guldasta-E- Jammu Wa Kashmir, Naya daur Nayi Umeed" concluded here today at Abhinav Theatre Jammu.

The Festival was inaugurated by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of UT of J&K yesterday in presence of Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture and Bharat Singh, Secretary, JKAACL .

The festival was organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi and North Zone Cultural Center, Patiala.

More than 450 artists participated in the Festival which featured various folk traditions of Jammu and Kashmir like Kud Dance, Kashmiri Rouf, Dhambali Dance, Bhand Pather,  besides Dogri, Gojri and Pahari Dances.

The Secretary, JKAACL said that these festivals help in preserving the rich cultural traditions of Jammu and Kashmir and help in reviving these age old traditions.  He added that JKAACL is very devoted for the promotion of art and culture in the entire length & breadth of the Union Territory Jammu & Kashmir and JKAACL is giving its best to take the culture to every household so that the younger generation gets known by its roots. 

While addressing the students of Bishnah Degree College, Govt. College For Women, Parade and MAM College, Jammu, he stated that it's everybody's moral responsibility to let youngsters know about their art, culture and history and  this kind of events helps the student to remain stress free and to keep distance from drug abuse.

The students were enthralled by the splendid performance by the artists. One of the student, Shriya, said that she has seen such performances for the first time. Another student Romi said that we came to know about rich culture of Jammu.

One can easily find the representation of JKAACL in almost every event happening in J&K. This two day Jammu and Kashmir Festival was one such example where we tried to showcase our dying culture tradition of Jammu region.

The programme was conduct by Pankaj Sharma.
