Every year LAKHS of aspirants applying for this prestigious examination , but the passing percent is only 0.1 percent. So, this examination is considered as the toughest examination. In other way , the passing ratio of this examination is very less as compared to applying for this examination . This examination is conducted by union public service commission every year. According to annual report 2020 published by union public service commission , the total number of candidates for this examination is 10 lakh 58 thousand , for the vacancies of 900 approximately . The success rate is only 0.1 % . From the past few years , the completion is very tough , because the candidates applying for this examination is very large. Since the examination is considered very hard , candidates continuously take various attempts for qualifying this examination. The maximum age limit for the general category candidates is 32 years old . After passing this age general candidates has not chance to sit in the examination .
The big question strike in my mind , who can afford to take the risk where it is well afford to take such a risk where it is well established that only a few percent will qualify the final round, and that too perhaps after a few failed attempts .Only people with strong financial condition can take this risk, and that means such examinations are for the people whose background is very strong. The poor cannot take this risk, if he/she take this risk , family can suffer very lot during this time period. This examination takes much time. Some people fails at the last stage .
It is also proved by the published data that the employees of the IAS usually belong to royal families , whose economic support is very strong , those persons can take risk . They can start preparing for this prestigious examination. And can join any reputed coaching , where they can clear all the concepts , in which they are facing difficulty .
The eligibility for this examination is graduation . any one from any stream can apply for this examination , which has completed his / her graduation .
