Jashn-e Challai Kalan festival held at Shopian

Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan, was today organized by the District Administration Shopian in collaboration with 55 Rashtriya Rifles at Batapora Stadium, here.
The festival witnessed participation of huge crowds from nearby and adjoining areas of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the Chief Guest on the occasion?
The DC and Commanding Officer 15 Garhwal Rifles Ashutosh Thapliyal inaugurated the festival by throwing Pigeons in the air?
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the aim of organizing such festivals is to connect people together especially youth and said people should fully support this and also come forward for favouriting such events. He said that youth should strive for an educated Kashmiri Society and contribute in bringing development and peace to the country?
He stressed that youth of Kashmir are the future and they need to be nurtured into responsible citizens of the society.
Musical bands attracted the locals towards this festival and songs sung by the bands brought warmth in Kashmir’s freezing temperatures and entertained the crowd with its melodious and energetic performances.
Jashn-e-Chillai Kalan, the harshest phase of winter in Kashmir which began today, has been welcomed by 55 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army in a unique and attractive way.
The festival was also aimed at promoting Kashmiri culture, handicraft & cuisine.
Awards were also distributed among those who had shown outstanding performance in various fields?
Among others the event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shahbaz Ahmed Bodha, besides all the district officers and large number of mases.
