
The AISHE Cell of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), University of Kashmir (KU), in collaboration with the AISHE Unit of the Government of J&K, organised a one-day training workshop for nodal officers of the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) to strengthen institutional data management practices.
The day-long workshop aimed to familiarise nodal officers from affiliated colleges and satellite campuses of the varsity with the process of accurately filling the Data Capture Format (DCF) on the AISHE portal. The programme included detailed technical sessions, interactive question-answer sessions to clarify operational challenges, and hands-on training to ensure uniform and reliable data submission.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, in her address, encouraged the participants to ensure precision and consistency in reporting data and said, “Accurate data is the foundation of informed policy and effective academic planning. AISHE provides the evidence base for shaping higher education reforms, and universities must ensure that every figure reported reflects institutional transparency and accountability.”
Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, highlighted the importance of institutional coordination in data management and said that regular capacity-building workshops help strengthen quality assurance mechanisms across the university system.
Mr. Sourabh Kant, Assistant Director, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, provided an overview of AISHE, highlighting its significance in maintaining comprehensive national databases for higher education planning. Dr. Asif Iqbal, State Coordinator, AISHE Unit J&K, talked about the operational aspects of data verification and validation.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Director DIQA KU and Nodal Officer AISHE, Prof. Manzoor Shah, said that accurate data entry is integral to quality benchmarking and national ranking frameworks.
The Statistical Digest 2023–24, compiled by DIQA, was also released on the occasion. The technical session included training on filling the online web-based DCF and addressing the doubts and difficulties of nodal officers. The session was conducted by Mr. Omprakash Bobasya and Mr. Shivam Panday from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The event proceedings were conducted by Prof. Aijaz Akbar, Deputy Director DIQA KU, while Mr. Waseem Hussain, Assistant Nodal Officer AISHE Cell KU, proposed a vote of thanks.
