Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha attended the 8th edition of Purvanchal Festival “Maati”, in Delhi today.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor extended his felicitations to the Maati Trust and everyone associated with the prestigious event for providing an excellent platform to share ideas, culture and arts of  Purvanchal.

He said the last seven editions of this festival underline the vibrancy of Purvanchal's rich art and culture and its intellectual traditions.

The Lieutenant Governor said, “Purvanchal has strengthened our diverse culture and preserved our traditional values.

I believe the region of Purvanchal is anchored in the abiding values of our spiritual ethos. For thousands of years, the language diversity and Purvanchal's literature shaped our perspectives on culture and it gave new ideas and influenced the cultural canvas all over the world.

Linguistic diversity flourished in Purvanchal and it filled the cultural void in the society. It has shaped our outlook, given rise to new ideas, strengthened unity in society amidst diversity and has succeeded in influencing the cultural landscape across the world”.

The Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the freedom fighters, writers, artists, Industrialists and prominent personalities of Purvanchal who worked with dedication to build a modern India and illuminated people’s lives with their intellectual and creative efforts.

“The values that Purvanchal has given to humanity can never be erased. Many of our ancestors who are no longer in this world have left behind a rich legacy for the society which can ensure a secure future for generations to come.

There are thousands of great stars in the sky of Purvanchal. There is nothing more sacred and precious than their creations and their ideals. The Maati Trust and their associates have a huge responsibility to preserve and promote this sacred legacy,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that the future generation should be connected with linguistic richness and cultural diversity.

“The young generation should be connected with those traditions which have served as a source of emotional bonding, peace, ideals and inspiration for thousands of years,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor lauded the Maati Trust for its commendable efforts in roping in around 51,000 educational institutions for scholarships, jobs, startups, entrepreneurship for the youth and promotion of culture through a proposed cultural centre.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated and congratulated the achievers of Purvanchal who were conferred with the ‘Maati Samman’.
