The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a man accused of using fake medical certificates to secure a government job at a prominent Srinagar hospital.
The accused, Numan Farooq Wani, son of Late Farooq Ahmad Wani and a resident of Abu Bakar Lane, Umarabad Zainakote, Srinagar, is alleged to have submitted forged medical documents, including a fake Medical Council of India (MCI) registration certificate, to get employed at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina.
According to the Crime Branch, a case (FIR No. 01/2023 under sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 201 of the RPC) was registered after a complaint revealed that Wani had been working at SKIMS Bemina since December 2016. He was drawing a salary from the government exchequer using forged MBBS and MD degrees along with a fake MCI and State Medical Council registration.
After a thorough investigation, the charges against Wani were found to be true. A formal charge report (challan) has now been presented before the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, for further legal action.
The case highlights the vigilance of the Economic Offences Wing in cracking down on fraudulent employment through forged documents in vital public institutions.
