NSS KU begins service-driven youth connect under Sewa Parv 2025

 The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the University of Kashmir (KU) launched the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme – Sewa Pakhwada Edition in collaboration with the varsity’s Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW) at the Main Campus. The programme, running up to October 2, 2025, aims to engage youth in activities promoting nation-building, community service, and social responsibility, in line with the larger vision of Sewa Parv 2025.

 The programme includes volunteer-led activities designed to strengthen youth participation in social development.

 Speaking at the inaugural session, Dean Academic Affairs KU, Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada, said, “The involvement of youth in meaningful service initiatives creates a foundation for responsible citizenship and nurtures values of empathy, leadership, and commitment to society. The University is committed to providing such platforms that connect young people to the broader vision of a developed and inclusive India.”

 Dean DSW KU, Prof. Pervez Ahmed, said that the programme aims to strengthen the participation of students in activities that directly impact communities. “The initiative provides an opportunity for our students to channel their energies towards constructive social change,” he said.

 Deputy Director, My Yuva Bharat, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in creating awareness about national priorities among young people, while Youth Icons- Advocate Sheikh Salman and Mr. Mridull Thaplu emphasized the role of youth participation in democratic processes and urged students to actively contribute to social development through volunteerism.

 Earlier, in his welcome address, Programme Coordinator NSS KU, Dr. Wakar Amin, outlined the objectives of the Yuva Connect Programme and emphasized the role of NSS in empowering young people to take up meaningful community-oriented initiatives.

 The inaugural event was attended by faculty members, administrative officers, NSS volunteers, and students from the main campus and affiliated colleges. The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Humaira Showkat, Programme Officer NSS KU.
