Pakistan Rakes Kashmir Issue Again

It is very shameful that Pakistan should not give such unbecoming and shameful statements

February 26, 2023 | Omkar Dattatray

Pakistan is suffering from abject poverty and hunger and there are civil war conditions in that country and the people are fighting even for having a loaf of bread. The condition both political and economic is very sad but the crisis ridden Pakistan is not ashamed of raking the Kashmir issue again in the UNSC. The Pakistani establishment wants to distract the attention of the gullible people from the troubles in which that country is caught and on one hand she is reeling in hunger and deprivation but on the other hand she is raking the redundant issue of Kashmir again and again in United Nations. Not only this have the radical elements of Pakistan exhorted its people to held holy Quran in one hand and the atom bomb on the other hand. It is very shameful that Pakistan should not give such unbecoming and shameful statements. It seems that the government of Pakistan is not concerned with the problem of hunger and food crisis in that country and she is again busy in raking the issue of Kashmir at UN only to keep the Kashmir pot boiling and for that it even sacrifices the interests of its people. In 2022 Global hunger index ,Pakistan ranks99th out of the 121 countries .Pakistan has a level of hunger which is very serious

.But despite this bad and sad position Pakistan again raked the issue of Kashmir in the united nationals general assembly to show solidarity with the Kashmiris on the so called solidarity day and this is a shame for Pakistan that its government does not take serious and required steps to address and solve its hunger problem with which it is beset and which has become uncontrolled .Instead Pakistan gets fake pleasure in remaining busy with the so called Kashmir issue for its popularity and for internationalization of the Kashmir problem while the fact remains that the resolutions of UN regarding the Kashmir issue have become outdated and redundant as per the former secretary general of the UNO .Pakistan again raked the Kashmir issue at UNSC and this is the extent of shameless behavior of that country which is debt ridden and hunger ridden .Instead of paying attention towards the hunger problem with which that country is plagued ,Pakistan thinks it good to once again raise and rake the beaten issue of Kashmir at the UNO to attract the attention of the international community and to divert the attention of the Pakistani people from the more pressing problems confronting them .
Yesterday Pakistan has once again raised the issue of Kashmir at UNGA. India slammed Pakistan after it referred to Jammu and Kashmir during a special session on Ukraine in general assembly of UN ,terming the provocation as ‘regrettable and misplaced ’and calling out Islamabad’s track record of harboring and providing safe heaven to terrorists with impunity. Counsellor in the India’s permanent mission to UN Partik Mathur exercised India’s right to replay on Thursday after Pakistan’s envoy at UN Munir Akram referred to Jammu and Kashmir while delivering the explanation of vote on the UNGA resolution on Ukraine during the emergency special session and slammed Pakistan. However the international community does not take Pakistan serious .But India hit back at Pakistan after she raised the Kashmir issue at the UNSC and said that a country that hosted slain al-Qaeda militant leader Osama Bin Laden and attacked the neighbouring parliament does not have any credentials to sermonize before the council. EAM Jaishankar said that the credibility of UN depends on its effective response to the key challenges of our times,be it pandemic, climate change ,conflicts or terrorism. ’’We are today focused on the urgency of reforming multilateralism. We will naturally have a particular view but there is growing convergence at least that this cannot be delayed any further.’’ he said. Jaishankar told UNSC ,’’While ,we search for the best solutions. What our discourse must never accept is the normalization of such threats. The question of justifying what the world regards as unacceptable should not even arise. That certainly applies to state sponsorship of cross border terrorism. Nor can hosting Osama Bin Laden and attacking a neighboring parliament serve as credentials to sermonize before the council.’’
In fact EAM Jaishankar tears down Pakistani FM Bilawal Bhutto after he rakes Kashmir issue at UNSC. He has rightly said don’t justify state sponsorship of cross border terrorism. Jaishankar’s strong remarks came after Pakistan Foreign Minister Blawal Bhutto raised the Kashmir issue while speaking in the council debate on reformed multilateralism. Jaishankar also referred to the attack on the Indian Parliament on December 13,2001 when the terrorists of the Pakistan based LET and the Jaish-e-Mohammed killed nine people. Our EAM presided over the UNSC open debate on Maintenance of International Peace and Security –New Orientation for Reformed Multilateralism, a signature event held under India’s Presidency of the 15 nation council. Bhutto was among the over 60 speakers listed for the debate. India hits back Pakistan as it rakes up Jammu and Kashmir at UN.J-K remains an integral and inalienable part of India as per counsellor in India’s Permanent mission to the UN Partik Mathur.
India has slammed Pakistan after it raked the Jammu and Kashmir issue during a plenary meeting of the UNGA on security council reforms, saying Islamabad’s desperate attempts to peddle falsehood and its bad habit of abusing the sanctity of multilateral forums deserves the international community’s collective attempt. The General Assembly had held a plenary meeting on the issue of UNSC reforms during which Pakistan yet again raked up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. ’’I am taking the floor today to exercise India’s right to reply to respond to Pakistan’s continued abuse of this august assembly.’ ’counselor in India’s Permanent Mission to UN Pratik Mather said. Mather said that while UNGA is meeting to discuss the’’ extremely important ‘’topic of united nations reforms ,the Pakistan’s representative has yet again made unwarranted references to Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral and inalienable part of India ,irrespective of what the representative of Pakistan believes or covets. Pakistan’s desperate attempt to peddle falsehood and bad habit of abusing the sanctity of multilateral forums deserves our collective contempt and perhaps our sympathy. Pakistan PM Shebaz Sharif rakes Kashmir issue again to deflect the attention of its people from the political and economic crisis in which that country is caught due to the wrong policies and priorities of the government. Pakistan has again raked Kashmir issue at UN and it is done for internalization of the issue which no longer remains relevant in the today’s world but Pakistan is habitual of raking this issue time and again for its cheap popularity. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN Maleeha Lodhi said that the right of self-determination must be exercised freely without use of coercion or repression.
Raking up the Kashmir issue at the UN Pakistan repeated its call for security council resolutions to be implemented in the state and said fulfilling promise of self-determination to the Kashmiri people is indispensable to establishing lasting peace and stability in South Asia. Addressing the 77th session of UNGA Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif said,’’We look for peace with all our neighbors including India. Sustainable peace and stability in the South Asia however remain contingent upon just and lasting solution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute.’ ’At UN,Bilawal Bhutto also claimed that India was transforming into a Hindu supremacist state. Censuring the Pakistan foreign minister’s remarks on Kashmir, India’s Joint Secretary of UN Economic and Social Srinivas Gotru said that the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were our and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India irrespective of what Pakistan representative believes or covets. India has always given a befitting response to Pakistan’s raking of Kashmir issue at UN and OIC. Pakistan should attend to its economic and political instability and the food crisis instead of unsuccessfully raking the Kashmir issue at international fore.
