Anantnag, Sep 21: Continuing its sustained crackdown against the menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse, Police in Anantnag have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Acting on credible information and as part of its ongoing anti-drug operations, a police party from Police Post Janglatmandi apprehended a person identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh. Hassan Sheikh resident of Nazuk Mohalla, Ganjiwara, at Ashajipora.
During search, one charas stick weighing 3 grams and 357 grams of ganja were recovered from his possession. The recovered contraband has been seized as per law.
In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 319/2026 has been registered at Police Station Anantnag under relevant provisions of law, and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and other linkages associated with the recovered contraband.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the district and urged the public to continue extending cooperation to Police by sharing information regarding drug peddling and trafficking.
