Police has seized immovable properties of five operatives of the Hizbul Mujahideen in the Gool area of Ramban district, a police spokesman said on Friday.
He said the five terrorists — Saraj Din (48) of Sangaldan, Reyaz Ahmed (45) of Dalwah, Farooq Ahmed (46) of Banj Bhimdassa, and Mohammad Ashraf (50) and Mushtaq Ahmed (47) of Moila — have crossed over to PoK and are operating from there.
They were trying to sell these assets to fund militant activities, he said.
“The seizure of immovable properties belonging to these five exfiltrated terrorists of the Gool area is a decisive step in dismantling terror funding networks and preventing the resurgence of militancy in the region.
“It sends a strong message to terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir that their attempts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will not be tolerated,” he added.
The spokesperson said that security forces remain committed to ensuring long-term peace, stability and development in Jammu and Kashmir while taking firm action against those trying to destabilise the region.
According to police, the five terrorists crossed over to PoJK to receive arms training and carry out militant activities in India.
The police spokesperson said police attached 5 properties i.e Agricultural land measuring 23.13 Kanals valuing Rs. 7986377/- under section 25 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 (UAPA).
“Land measuring 1 Kanal 3 Marla registered in the name of Siraj Din son of Hassan Din resident of Movalkote Tehsil Gool District Ramban, falling under Khasra No. 341 valuing Rs. 634949/- was seized,” he said.
⁠He said land measuring 1 Kanal 11 Marla registered in the name of Mohd Ashraf son of Mohd Shafi resident of Gool Tehsil Gool District Ramban, falling under Khasra No. 79, 70min,82,29,36,69,80 valuing Rs. 867132/- was also attached.
“Land measuring 3 Kanal 4 Marla registered in the name of Mushtaq Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid Malik resident of Gool Tehsil Gool District Ramban, falling under Khasra No. 6,18,19,88,1min valuing Rs. 1790208/ was attached by police. Land measuring 15 Kanal 17 Marla registered in the name of Riyaz Ahmed son of Abdul Samad Wani resident of Dalwah Tehsil Gool District Ramban, falling under Khasra No. 307,438,439,440 valuing Rs. 4318440/- and Land measuring 1 Kanal 18 Marla registered in the name of Farooq Ahmed son of Jamal Din resident of Bhimdassa Tehsil Gool District Ramban, falling under Khasra No. 206/25, 208/734, 119/35, 2020/35, 264/754 valuing Rs. 375648/ was also attached,” the police spokesperson said.
“All the attached properties valued Rs. 7986377 have been duly recorded in revenue records, and notices prohibiting their sale or transfer have been served under the UAPA.
“The attachment is linked to case FIR No. 04/2024 U/S 120-B/121-A/IPC, 13/18/20/39 UAPA of Police Station Gool and was executed in presence of Police team and an Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal procedures,” the spokesperson said
