Shopian, July 27: Eight security personnel, including seven Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and a Jammu and Kashmir Police official, sustained injuries after a BP bunker vehicle belonging to the 178 Battalion CRPF skidded off the road and rolled down a slope near Watchi Police Post in the Zainapora area of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday.

According to officials, the accident took place on the Watchi main road when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn down the roadside.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot and evacuated all the injured personnel, who were shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Zainapora for medical treatment.

The injured have been identified as Inspector Shivandher Tripathi, Sub Inspector Rakesh Kumar, Head Constable K.M. Deepak, Constable T.N. Hakib, Constable Dulal Sana, Constable Papu Ram, and Constable Driver Kunal Sah, all from the 178 Battalion CRPF. The injured police official has been identified as Selection Grade Constable Fayaz Ahmad Khan of Police Post Watchi, Zainapora.

Officials said all the injured personnel are receiving treatment. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
