Home Minister on Thursday promised terror-free Jammu and Kashmir if voted to power and asserted that only Modi can restore the statehood to J&K.
“I promise you that the BJP will give you terror-free Jammu and Kashmir. Whoever spreads terror will get his answer at the gallows,” Shah said while addressing an election rally at Chenani in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
He was campaigning in support of party candidate Balwant Singh Mankotia contesting from the Chenani Constituency going to poll in the last and final phase of the ongoing Assembly elections scheduled on October 1.
“In the last 70 years, the hilly belts of J&K were ignored by the governments ruled by the Muftis and Abdullahs but the Modi government transformed this region into ‘Naya Jammu and Kashmir’ and developed the neglected areas,” said Shah.
He said tterrorism in J&K has been buried and would not be allowed to stage a comeback.
On Congress-NC alliance, Shah said, “The Congress-NC alliance if comes to power would impose Pakistan’s agenda of restoring Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir but we will never allow it to happen.”
On the NC manifesto pledging to restore Article 370, he said, “Article 370 is history now. Neither Omar Abdullah or Rahul Gandhi nor their three generations can bring it back”.
Shah said there are no hartals, stone pelting incidents and violence after the abrogation of Article 370.
He said the PM Modi-led BJP government had fulfilled the dream of Syama Prasad Mukherjee by abrogating Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
“As far as the restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, it can be done only by the Parliament and will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
