June 18, 2026 | Mohammad Danish

Srinagar, June 17: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday attached two properties of a key accused in a Pakistan-backed terror conspiracy case, linked with banned Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The accused, Shaheen Ahmad Lone, was found by NIA to be involved in smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives from Pakistan through the LoC. The weapons and explosives were further supplied to terrorists of the HM and LeT organisations for unleashing terror activities in the Kashmir valley,” the NIA spokesman said.
He said NIA investigations had also found Lone, against whom trial is ongoing in a 2020 case in the NIA Special Court, Jammu, to be actively involved in receiving and transferring funds to the terrorists.
NIA had arrested Lone in September 2020 and chargesheeted him in March 2021 under various provisions of the UA(P) Act.
NIA said the two properties attached today as part of the action carried out under Section 33 (1) of UA (P) Act, pursuant to the orders of the NIA Special Court, Jammu, are located in Kanispora village of Baramulla district of J&K.
“They include a residential house built on land measuring 7.5 marlas and a piece of land measuring 6 marlas, on which a shed had been constructed,” the NIA said.
