
MeT forecasts, light rain, snow over higher reaches of J&K
There was a slight rise in night temperature across the Valley with Srinagar recording the coldest night of the season with mercury dropping to minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.
A Meteorological department official said there was a slight increase in minimum temperature across the Valley including Srinagar which recorded a low of minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 0.5 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag recorded a minimum of 0.7 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.2 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 0.4 degrees Celsius and it was above 2.5 degrees Celsius above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, the official said.
The official said generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/snow at isolated higher reaches in J&K during next 24 hours.
“From 24th-26th November generally dry weather is expected. From 27th-30th November, generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow at isolated higher reaches is expected. From 1st-3rd December partly to generally cloudy weather is expected,” he said.
There is a possibility of light rain or snow at isolated higher Places on November 29-30, he said.
The MeT official said shallow to moderate fog is likely to continue till November 28 over many places of Kashmir division.
