
Delhi, Feb 3: : As part of the National Integration Tour (NIT)–2026, a team of 20 elderly civilians from remote areas travelled from Noklak to Jorhat, Delhi, and Agra to promote national integration through exposure to India’s cultural, historical, and developmental heritage.
During their visit to Delhi, the NIT participants interacted with Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, at the LOAR headquarters. The DG warmly welcomed the group, appreciating their enthusiasm, discipline, and commitment to representing their communities as ambassadors of unity and national harmony.
Lt Gen Lakhera encouraged the participants to share their experiences and learnings from the tour with their local communities, emphasizing the importance of peace, social cohesion, and national integration. The interaction also provided an opportunity for the elderly participants to engage with the senior officer, ask questions, and gain insights into the role of Assam Rifles in fostering security, development, and community welfare in remote regions.
The National Integration Tour is designed to bridge regional and cultural gaps by exposing citizens, especially from remote and underprivileged areas, to India’s rich heritage and contemporary progress. Officials said the Delhi leg of the tour offered participants a deeper understanding of governance, administration, and the country’s unity in diversity.
