NIT Srinagar to host SANGAM 2025 alumni meet

October 06, 2025 | BK News Service

Established in 1960 as the Regional Engineering College (REC) Srinagar and elevated to the status of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar in 2003, the institute has been a beacon of technical excellence, intellectual rigor, and national service for over six decades. Over the years, NIT Srinagar has nurtured more than 40,000 graduates who today serve as innovators, leaders, and changemakers across the globe — shaping industries, advancing research, and driving societal progress.

As part of its ongoing efforts to celebrate this legacy and strengthen its bond with the alumni community, NIT Srinagar will host its Annual Alumni Meet — SANGAM 2025 (Students Alumni Networking for Growth, Aspiration and Monitoring) on 10th and 11th October 2025. The event will also see the launch of the institute’s annual alumni magazine, Bridges & Beacons: A Chronicle of NIT Srinagar, which aims to highlight alumni achievements and foster stronger inter-generational connections.
The two-day event will serve as a platform for alumni, faculty, students, and industry leaders to connect, share ideas, and explore opportunities for mentorship, entrepreneurship, and collaborative growth. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, NIT Srinagar has designed several purpose-driven programmes to transform alumni engagement from a ceremonial reunion into a catalyst for impactful collaboration.
Part of the Eminent Alumni Lecture Series (EALS), this initiative will invite distinguished alumni to return to classrooms and share their real-world experiences, industry insights, and career lessons with students and faculty. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the programme aims to bridge the academia–industry gap and inspire the next generation. Select alumni will also have the opportunity to offer one-credit evening courses, contributing directly to curriculum enrichment.
Recognising the challenges faced by final-year students in securing employment, the Hand-Holding Abhiyan will encourage alumni to provide mentorship, referrals, and job opportunities. Successful entrepreneurs among the alumni will also be invited to participate in industry networking sessions, share market insights, and explore avenues for collaboration. The initiative aims to transform alumni from well-wishers into active partners in student success.
The inaugural edition of Bridges & Beacons, a publication dedicated to celebrating alumni journeys and achievements, will be unveiled during SANGAM 2025. Alumni are invited to contribute articles, short stories, and thought pieces that reflect their professional and personal growth, as well as their continued bond with their alma mater.
To celebrate exceptional contributions across diverse fields, NIT Srinagar will present Alumni Awards to 10 distinguished alumni, along with recognitions for faculty and students. Categories will include Academics and Research, Public Administration and Corporate Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Social Service, and Outstanding Services. Nominations can be submitted by peers, the institution, or a dedicated selection committee.
Dedicated networking sessions will focus on identifying priority research areas and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations with leading universities and industries. Alumni feedback will play a key role in bridging the gap between academic curricula and industry needs, ensuring that NIT graduates remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
More than just an alumni meet, SANGAM 2025 is envisioned as a shared commitment to nurturing the intellectual, professional, and emotional bonds that define NIT Srinagar. It is an opportunity to honour the past, celebrate the present, and shape the future. By creating a platform for dialogue, mentorship, and collaboration, NIT Srinagar aims to strengthen its global alumni network and empower the next generation of innovators and leaders.
The institute looks forward to the active participation of its alumni community in making SANGAM 2025 a landmark event — one that sets new benchmarks for alumni engagement across the country.
