‘No proposal for change in school timings’
The Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tasaduk Hussain Itoo on Wednesday said that no decision has been made regarding summer vacations for schools in the Valley in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions.
Talking to media during a visit to a private school in Nagbal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Itoo said the administration will consider summer vacations only if there is an extraordinary heat surge.
“We have not decided yet about the summer vacation in Kashmir because the weather is pleasant,” he said.
He highlighted the importance of continuing education at this time. “There is a need to teach children now, and when the time comes, it will be decided whether to take a summer vacation”.
Itoo said that there was no proposal for any change in the school timings in Kashmir.
“The weather is pleasant, it is 32 degrees Celsius,” he said.
He said the government is monitoring the situation and that they will take call in case of any extreme weather condition.
He said the department wants to make students resilient to weather vagaries and other tough conditions so that they become stronger to face any difficult situation in future.
“If summer vacations are announced in May, then what we are going to do in June, July months,” he said.
