
Itanagar, May 4: In a joint counter-insurgency operation, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, in coordination with Arunachal Pradesh Police, apprehended three cadres of the NSCN-K (Nikki Sumi faction) from Wancho Colony in Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh on May 1, 2025.
Officials said the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement and presence of insurgent elements in the area. Acting swiftly, security forces launched a coordinated search operation that led to the successful capture of the three cadres without any collateral damage.
The arrested individuals are believed to be associated with activities linked to the NSCN-K (Nikki Sumi) group, which has been active in parts of the Northeast and is involved in insurgency-related operations. Security agencies have intensified surveillance in Tirap and adjoining districts, which have historically been sensitive due to insurgent movements.
Following their apprehension, the cadres were taken into custody for detailed interrogation. Authorities are expected to investigate their role, network links, and possible involvement in extortion, recruitment, or other unlawful activities in the region.
